Long tubes and motor mounts install experience
Just wanted to post my experience installing headers and motor mounts last weekend. I'd first like to thank everyone on this board who contributed to the sticky or posted write-ups, without research, this install would have taken twice as long.
This was done on jack stands in my garage.
For the headers, I did have to cut the casting tab on the driver's side, raised the front really high, hammered the inside ends of the y-pipe so it would slip over the collectors, a 10mm ratcheting wrench is a must and air tools helped a lot. Other than that, the install was easy.
For the poly motor mounts, had to remove the starter, unbolt the ac compressor and move forward, we did have to raise and lower the engine a few times to get the bolts to line up on the install. (for this we used a bottle jack, very helpful) My driver side mount ended up being broken. (118k miles will do that I guess) Again, not a difficult install, just need the right tools and some patience.
It did take about 14 hours with 2 people, we weren't in a rush and made sure everything was done right the first time. I did bleed all over my car, so I know it was done right.
I gained about 20rwhp and 10rwtq with headers and a tune, no cats.
