Default Coolant level sensor specs

I'm trying to keep the coolant level sensor functional on my swap and I would like to use the 10096163 GM coolant level sensor located on the radiator. I'm trying to figure out how to integrate it into my BMW wiring but I've run into a wall. I have two of these sensors currently and they both show a ~3-6Mohm resistance whether they're seeing coolant or not.

Is there some weirdo circuitry going on that makes these things work which I wont be able to emulate or did I somehow manage to grab two junk sensors? Some test numbers from people with known good sensors would be great!

The bastard in question:

I can't really help you out because my sensor is bad, but I can tell you, if you leave the sensor unplugged, it reads as though everything is good, as in no 'low coolant' warning.
