Default header installation

Ok so i am really starting to think about installing headers and started searching and noticed that is a paiiiin without a lift so i lost all hopes of doing it. Think i thought about using my cellar. Its one of those cellars in the garage that slides open and i was thinking i could have a friend or someone pull the car over it and be in the cellar and work on it from down there??? do yall think this would work good?

Its not that big of a pain without a lift. Ive done 2 installs and a lift wouldnt have been that much better.

I've done five sets of headers in my garage with jacks. It's not that hard.

what brand of headers do you have? Ive heard some brands are a HUGE pain in the ***. I've only installed hooker super comps so thats all i can speak for but they weren't bad on jackstands

XS/SSAutochromes are the best bang for the buck headers. Stainless and come with a Y pipe for like $440 shipped.

The hardest part is manuvering them in, they don't exactly slide right in.
Other than that, is just time consuming. I used a set of ramps on the rear and
raised the car about 16 inches from the front.

Some advice, search for the write-ups and read them before you start. If it's your first time, they'll help you get an idea of what needs to be done. VERY HELPFULL!!!!

You're only problem will be if your headers don't fit past the K-member. then you're going to have to cut the casting tab off.

Dont be intimidated by header install on a garage floor. The pit you have isnt a bad idea but youd be fine just jacking the car up as high as a good jack and stands will go. If you run into the driver side not going up because of the tab on the block you could always unbold the motor mount jack the motor up ever so slightly, slide the header in and lower back down bolt back up. I had to do this on 2 seperate installs and only took a matter of minutes to actually do this. but just another way to do the same job. I would do headers all day long with a good jack and stands though. Its actually kinda fun.
