Default Lid Question

Hey guys,

My Superhawk Hood just showed up. It has larger nostrils than the stock WS6 hood. I was hoping to take advantage of this extra incoming air with a very open lid.

I took off my stock lid, currently have an SLP lid and CIA, but I've seen lids where it is just an air filter pretty much

They sell an airbox for the Superhawk hood, but they want $300+

I am also considering making my own airbox

any suggestions?

I haven't heard of this hood but if you want the best fit and optimal performance, it is probably best to go with the engineering for the airbox from the company that engineered the hood. I wouldn't expect much of a ram air effect, however, I bet you could find lower IACs since it won't be sucking in air from right off the hot pavement and engine compartment. The other option I'm familiar with is a Volant cold air kit, however, again, your hood may have different dimensions than the Volant and not seal the hot air out.

Bottom line: IMHO - go with the hood's company's airbox. The Volant isn't much cheaper.

The hood maker doesn't have an airbox for their hood.

I looked at Volant's website 2 weeks ago and didn't see one for Fbody...did they stop making it?

its like this 3/4 box with a seal to the hood around it and two conical filters at like a 60* vee going toward the front. just use google or something it should be easy to find. looks like a spinoff of the kn fipk setup but with that box that looks like it seals to the hood.
