Default Header Install Problem. HELP!!!

So i am starting to take off the exhaust, y-pipe and the god awful headers. I have all the bolts off the headers except for the last one closes to the firewall on both sides. How can i get them off?!?!?! I think i have tried everything!!! Hell me!

Also before i take the headers off should i the spark plugs out? or is that mandatory?

Thank you for all the help.
I will post pictures when i am done with everything!

You might not be able to squeeze a socket and ratchet back there. I use ratcheting wrenches to get the passenger side off. Try that. Replace the plugs while you have the exhaust off. Just don't hit 'em when you put your header on.

I agree I love my set of gear wrenches for the headers. As for the plugs, if you don't remove them they will end up broke trying to take the headers out. Better to remove them.

You might try getting at them from the bottom.

From the bottom, like already said, with racheting wrenches. I did it with a set of LT's.

Nobody said it was easy, if you think that's hard, try doing the motor mounts!!!!!!

With the Y pipe off there was plenty of room for me to get in there when doing mine.

Did it from the bottom with all other exhaust parts (i.e. cats) removed.

Broke it loose with a ratchet, then used a gear wrench the rest of the way.

The oil dipstick is not a problem. It's pressure inserted, so just make sure you remove the 15mm bolt right above the header bolt number #3 or #4. You probaly already removed it because you can't get to this header bolt with it in the way.

P.S. you'll have to remove the starter in order to pull/install the headers.

I don't know if you have changed them already but poly or solid would be a good thing to do now. It'd help cause a few less headaches down the road. They aren't terribly expensive.

Which headers are you installing anyway?

I didn't remove my spark plugs or starter to put my headers on. Though I should have removed the spark plugs to be safe. Did you decide to get rid of the AIR and EGR stuff? That might also help with giving you more space to work if you need it.

Ehh, well it actually came more in handy for doin' the passenger side motor mount. Every mod in my sig was done in a 21.5 hr. period of time, so everything was torn apart at once. Just so happened starter was removed while the headers were off, hehehe..

So today!
I pulled out all the factory stuff, and installed my QTP headers. And i didnt need to remove the starter, oil filter, oil plug, coil packs, etc. They slid in perfectly! I bolted them in but not tightened yet. They seem harder to turn the bolts.

Tomorrow:
Finish up the headers, and take it for a ride then install my QTP ORY.

Get someone to help you. Have them get underneath and release pressure from the bolts by holding the headers up a little bit.
