on my 98 Z28 i just grinded a little off at a time until the header went right in, didn't remove the steering shaft, grinding it down won't hurt anything, i've seen people cut it off completely also

Friend who works HVAC stopped by after work, busted out the sawzall, had it off in about 2 seconds. 1 min later the header was in It's aluminum so the sawzall went through it like butter.

I ground down a little corner off the tab. That's all that was necessary to slip it it.

With my Pacesetters I didn't have to cut or disconnect anything, they just slid right in. With my friends Pacesetters we cut the tab off with a sawzall and it literally was off in 5 seconds.

I didn't have to disconnect anything or remove anything, including that tab. PaceSetter's here.
