Default cheap azz studs...

I was underneath my 00 TA changing tranny fluid and I noticed my factory "header" studs were rusted. And not just a little bit rusted. They were literally rusted half way thru. Now my car gets driven rarely in winter but I do drive in the rain. I'm shocked that they are rusted that badly. Anyone else notice this issue?

My car never sees winter and mine were getting rusty. I just purchased stainless steel washers and allen head bolts from a local stainless guy and tossed neversieze and tightened them up. Like my dad is doing w/ all the cars he is restoring, any bolt he can find in stainless, he swaps out. That is what I am doing to my car. Saves a lot of headaches from corrosion. If you do replace the header bolts, they are (M8 x 1.25 x 30mm) Plus if you go to local swap meets, the stainless fastener venders have awesome prices (bolts I used were $1.40 each from sears, same ones at the shows, $0.30 each) Plus if you like to chrome your engine, they buff up like chrome and don't fade.

I'm referring to the studs where the "headers" meet the Y pipe. Wouldn't they need to be drilled out?
