Bigger Is Louder...

I've seen some posts about how tips affect a catbacks sound. I picked up the Gibson catback last fall. I decided to replace the 4 inch round double walled tips for a set of Pypes 6"x3" Oval single wall stainless tips. The bigger oval tips are definitely louder and has a meaner bark. If you want a quieter, more mellow exhaust go with double wall dual tips.

tips make huge differences in sound

i worked on 2 cars with lt, ory, and one had a 4" tip and the other had huge
6" tips and the bigger tip actually sounded good unlike any lm i have ever heard and the smaller tip setup sounded like most all ory lm setups

that makes me really happy cause i hate the hooker CB tips. i wonder if a nice Magnaflow 3.5" tip would sound good on a hooker CB

If you've got a TA I'd recomend the Pypes oval to fill in the valance holes

When I changed from single tips to my cme tips it definitely make my exhaust louder.

Tips have a huge effect on sound that is generally underappreciated. I can't overemphasize the difference that going to Hooker resonator tips made from the 2.5 straight tips I had before.
