well you need a "tool" to get the dampener all the way on the crank snout. like threaded rod, washers, and nuts. once on all the way, the stock length bolt will catch. check the cam install on ls1howto.com

That's the right ARP bolt. I think bigti99a is right, you probably don't have the balancer all the way on. How did you install it, what method?
