Default CAGS eliminator problem

Recently installed a Skip shift, and it is working as far as the actual skip shift function, but now my car is throwin a "Service Engine soon" light ... And I know for a fact it was driving perfect right before this thing went on. Has anyone ever had this problem with CAGS eliminators?

You should get the codes before you make assumptions. Run to Azone or somewhere and make sure it's related before you start chasing problems. Did you make your own with a resistor or did you buy the actual unit? You might have the wrong resistor if you made your own

Ok, thanks man. I guess I will take it to autozone and if they say its some kind of transmission issue than I know.

Went to autozone the other day and they ran the diagnostic check, car is saying " upshift solinoid malfunction" Im sure this has to do with the skip shift. Anybody have any idea? can i just erase this code? need some advice guys. Thanks

I don't think that's the issue man. Basically if you just unplug it is the same as if you were to put the wrong resistor in there, it will eliminate the skip shift but the SES will come on. The only reason for the resistor is that it tells the computer everything is working normally as if it were plugged into the trans.

You can get a pack of 5 resistors at Radio Shack for about a buck. That's what I did and no SES light. Best dollar I ever spent.

yeah, i installed my resistor over a year ago w/o any ses light. you might have gotten the wrong resistor off ebay. you need a 2200 ohm 1/2 watt resistor. go to radio shack, they're like .20 each.

Just bend the wires on the resistor over to form a U shape. Then push the ends of the wires into the connector terminals. Bend the resistor over so that it's against the connector and tape it up really good with electrical tape. You'll also want to tape up the solonoid connector just to keep it from filling up with crud. Fold the cable back and tape it up so that it isn't hanging loose and your done.

If you need a skip shift I have the professional job made from real metripack weatherproof connectors.

Not to try to sell you anything but give me a couple of dollars to mail it and its yours. Save yourself the hassle nexttime and hit the boards or call one of the sponsors.
