Edelbrock Stuff...
Edelbrock 90mm TB... Looks sweet... From a company that we know... Testing facilities similar to NASA when you compare them to other shops... DIRT cheap price ($245 for a 90mm at Advance Auto w/ 20% employee discount)... SO WHY ISNT EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT IT?
I can promise that if you install something that says Edelbrock on it that your car it wont turn into a 72 Nova and make 4 barrel noises when you step on it.
Look at their headers! Stainless... stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 into a 3.5" collector... holy crap batman! Does it get any attention? No... because only old people use Edelbrock.
WTF? Its not that they're too expensive... or that they make crappy things... so what is it?
It seems to me that many people are hung up on absolute power regardless of fit and finish. Some people post about how good a part is and that all they had to do was grind, weld, and fab to make it work. I like to bolt on and go.
Maybe people feel more comfortable buying from a company that is F-body or LSX specific instead of one that makes parts for thousands of vehicles. Who knows?
I think the main issue is advertising, especially on a forum like LS1Tech. They are big enough in the SBC and SBF croud that they haven't really given the LS1 croud the attention it needs when compared to manufacturers like AFR/TFS or other big LS1 names. Tony Mamo makes a perfect example of why people choose to go AFR, and it's because he doesn't hesitate to share his knowledge or opinions with poeple (board members) who aren't even buying his prodict. That speaks wonders for AFR's customer service and gives them a great reputation with #'s to back it up. Brian Tooley also does wonders for the TFS products
Edlebrock is known SBC/SBF's but LS1's are a different ball game. When you're charging over 2k for heads, people don't want to be taking a leap of faith just because of a name. they want to see real world results and people who are acceseble to talk to that will make you confident in your purchase. If edlebrock shows they can put down the #'s with LSx's then customers will follow suit
