SES = EGR problem?
I took my 98Z to a local mechanic and he said he scanned it and it came up with an EGR problem and then he cleared the code. He said when that light comes on it goes into "limp" mode. I also told him about the LS6 intake manifold having no EGR and he said that there has to be an EGR valve somewhere on it. Is the EGR a serious problem and what is "limp" mode? Please post your imput. thanx.

Re: SES = EGR problem?
the car DOES NOT go into limp mode if your EGR is missing. if you removed your EGR and replaced your LS1 intake with an LS6 it is going to throw out a code. you need to have the code deleted with LS1 edit to turn the light off. it will cause no performance effect though, just a nusance of having the SES light on.

Theres a difference in deleted codes. U have to have someone disabled the EGR code using LS1 Edit or some other tuner software. I dont know if you just had someone use a scanner to clear the code it will just come back.

exactly, if you put an ls6 dont have the egr unless you got the slp version. You have to have the egr disabled not just deleted otherwise it'll just come right back, I dont know if it affects performance, I ran 12.4 the other night with the SES light on for egr/air
