Sound from a cutout
Sound from a cutout I was thinking about putting a cutout on my car when I do the cam. I always thought for some reason that it wouldnt make the car sound deeper but just louder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZWj34ooqDU That car sounds bad as hell when the cutout is open. Now I realize its not the same setup but how could I get my car to sound like that?

Runnining a Cutout, especially cuz your ORY, will sound reeaaaly raspy when your on it. At idle however its just a mellow...umm, rumble i guess. Now, if u were to Cam your car, it would indeffinantly give it that lopey, snappy sound that is in the vid you posted. Good Luck and Happy Modn'

A cut out with no cats will give you rasp. I never really open mine fully. Usually just crack it til it sounds good. Otherwise its just LOUD. But if Im racing or running the car real hard, Ill open it all the way.
At idle the cut out makes it sounds pretty cool though. At idle and just putzing around it will sound great. But when you get on it, it gets alittle dirty sounding. I have a vid similar to the one you posted...but its not online. I could try to upload it as an example for ya.
Ive heard people have good luck with a resonator behind the cut out. Or put some high flow cats back on. Would cut down on the rasp.
Do some more searching on youtube and on ls1tech and you'll find lots more clips of peoples set ups and all.

I love my cutout. With headers, ory and my cutout its so loud. I went to a car show and they had us making some noise. With my cutout open... I'm pretty sure I attracted the most attention!
Its a different engine. Your ls1 prob wont sound like that.
Ls1s seem to be raspy as hell without a muffler. versus my buddies fox body which sounded its best with just the x pipe on and no mufflers.. .It was actually pretty queit when you were off the gas and then when you got on the gas. Ohh my god, It sounded great.

Word, my car sounds raspy as hell... I'm looking for a muffler that has very deep rumble because of that, lol. Also no cats = more rasp. So do LOTS of research on that so you don't do the exhaust system twice.

That sounds pretty deep to me at idle. What headers and Y do you have?
MAC mids, ORY, custom full exhaust, cut-out right before the axle and a Magnaflow 2OTL muffler. Sounds ALOT better online, lol. And it's lowered 1.5" so echo makes it sound pretty sweet.
That's all getting replaced with PS LT's, ORY and Most likely Hooker Aerochamber since i want a deep rumble becase the magnaflow is WAY too quiet for me, cut-out is staying.
