Default ? about ftp 85mm lid and 85 mm maf

This is probably a stupid question, but can a ftp 85mm lid slip on a stock 99 T/A MAF without any vacuum leaks. Or would I have to buy a 85mm zo6 MAF for it to seal properly. Ive been going back and forth about buying one, but have always heard of peoples cars running like crap it they upgrade the maf to a larger size like the granetilla MAF. If I did upgrade the lid and MAF to 85mm what kind of gains can I expect to see over the 78mm lid and MAF?

I am currently running the ftp lid with the stock maf. the only thing you need is a piece of rubber tubbing about 4" in diameter and about an 1/8 of an inch thick to go over the maf so it will seal. Or, ftp does make the gasket for that purpose, but i reccomend just buying something from the plumming section of the hardware store. The piece that ftp sells is 8 bucks and it looks like they cut from a piece plumber tubing. but all in all it a great product and will work the stock maf.

Default FTP Adapter

As mentioned, we do sell an adapter gasket for 8.00 that you can purchase at the same time as your Fast Toys 85mm air lid. It gives you a nice tight seal with the stock MAF and you can remove it at any time if you decide to upgrade to the 85mm MAF later on.

Alternatively, as suggested, you can make your own adapater gasket. BTW, we do not use plumbers tubing but I suppose that would work if you found the right size. LOL

For $8, I would just buy the adapter gasket since you know it will work. That's worth 2 gallons of gas here in IL.

another option would be to eliminate the maf and go with sd tune, and use
matching diameter tube from lid to tb, may need a reducer at tb, if using stock tb.
