Need to find my cats Hey guys its my first time posting. I recently have found that my cats on my 2000 Trans am are no good and i was wondering what would be the best cat performance wise but street legal cat to get. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
As for street legal it depends where you live. If you are in CA you don't have a lot of 'legal' options.
If you're tight on $$ you can find some used cats in the for sale section - about $150 for the pair.
If it was me I would upgrade to long tube headers with a cat'd Y pipe. I don't think it's worth it to just fit up some new cats to the old exhaust manifolds.

The amount im willing to spend isnt near as important as the quality of what i get. I dont want to get something thats worse then stock and doesnt last as long as they should. and as far as longtube headers with a y pipe i looked into that but from my understanding they probably wont pass emissions where i live in jersey.
If you want to stay stock check with your dealer first. I believe there may have been an extended warranty on cats. The factory warranty is something like 8 yrs/80k miles or 100k miles. I know some were extended because they found them to have problems.

OK basicaly what im trying to do is get a highflow cat that is better then stock if such a thing exsists. And if it means getting longtube headers and the y pipe setup i just dont want to invest in something like that and then not be able to choose the suspension setup i want later on
