ok...headers are next...bolt right up????
... so I need some good suggestions...not too expensive...I want to spend maybe 300-500 on the actual headers ...the y-pipe will pay for itself when I sell the old...or when they cut it to fit...
I could possibly do all the work myself(with a little help from a buddy of mine-and his driveway-I live in an apartment)...as long as I get the y-pipe with the headers.....????Am I making this harder than it is
Check and make sure the headers are right well before the install. My headers had the following problems that were caught before the install.
1/4 inch gap that wasn't welded and would have caused an exhaust leak.
fitting for the O2 sensor misaligned - drill out and re tap
flange not level - file and fix
slag in the primaries - grind it down
at the intall...
y pipe and header collectors didn't line up. Mufflex claims Hooker can't always get the collectors in the same alignment. The Mufflex Y pipe had to be cut apart welded and put back together.
My Hooker had more problems than most headers do.
If your doing the install yourself be sure and check all the stuff out very carefully otherwise it could sort turn into a mess.
Good Luck
