Default o2 Simulators

This dude was telling me that the only reason for o2 simulators was to extinguish the "Service Engine Soon" light if you were to be running no or gutted cats. I thought that the car wouldn't run right without or gutted cats because the computer isn't detecting what it needs to. Hense the reason for simulators. Am I right? Won't the car fun like crap if it had no cats and no simulators? Do I win the $5 I bet this goof?

The rear o2 sensors are mainly to make sure the cats are doing their job correctly. Running w/o o2 sims WITH gutted or no cats, won't affect drive ability. The front are a much different story though.

I think you lose the bet. :p

the pcm relies on the fron o2 for running reasons.... the back are just there to tell if the catalytic converters are doing their job..to tell you when they fail or when you have an emmissions problem.

The car will run fine without the rear O2's and no cats for a little while then the SES light will come on. I think you owe him $5
