Default Random Tech vs. SLP or Borla Y-pipe...any suggestions?

is anyone using the random tech y-pipe with high flow cats? if so, any feedback would be great! I have the loudmouth already, and was wondering if it would have an advantage over the SLP or Borla y-pipe? thanks

Aftermarket Y for stock manifolds/shortie headers with aftermarket cats? I don't think you'll gain much. Random told me 4 years ago that their Y and high flow cats were worth ~ 7rwhp & 9rwtq over the stock set up on 98-99 fbody. The 02 exhaust manifolds and cats overall are better than the manifolds on teh 98-99 cars. I would think an 02 car would show less than 7rwhp & 9rwtq with the aftermarket y and high flow cats. SLP's Y and Borla's Y's are about on par with Randoms. SLP's Y alone with stock cats (set up I had on my car for a while) is worth maybe 2rwhp.

If you don't mind cutting your stock Y you can have the flat section removed and replaced with new piece of pipe at a muffler shop for maybe $75

MAC's or LT's will get you a better gain.

Good Luck!

In fact, it's really a waste of time and money without the headers, assuming you are looking for hp gain.

Uhh guys,
I agree with the LT's being the best way to go. However if u stick with cast iron manifolds on a 2001-02 u will get more than 2 rwhp with a 2.5 or 2.75(G2, from LG Motorsport)primaries Y and gutted or Hi flo Cats with 3' catback
My set up gave me 17rwhp with OR tubes and O2 simms.

thanks alot for the input, i just wanted some advice before i spent $500 on Random Tech cats and y, as compared to $200 for the SLP or Borla, but either way, i'll have to keep my cats because i have the loudmouth exhaust, and i hear it sounds like crap without 'em.
