POLL -> My next mod should be? Help out here please!!
I DD my car with a 3500 and it not bad at all...it locks right up at 40mph just like a stock converter. You just have to make sure you have a good cooler thats all, and buy one thats 3600 and under stall. I thought the same thing until I bought one, now I want to put a bigger one in.
Bring on your opinions and please, if you are a daily driver, input please!
If you are worried about MPG loss, or driving around town get a Yank SS3200. The SS series is very tight and that would give you an awesome SOTP feel. Do it along with LT's and you will be a VERY happy person. You will quickly forget about that 1mpg that you lost.
gas isnt getting any cheaper, and once i hit grad school the taco has to go and i will be DD the camaro.. i went with ARH 1 7/8 and a custom y.. i got some tricks up my sleeve to quiet it down.. then again i have a welding machine and a lift so its not too hard to do if you think about it. anyhow, good luck and enjoy your ride either way. im an exhaust afficionado.. i love playing with them/building them. since my car only sits 4inches off the ground i cant exactly run 3" true duals now can i? so im stuck with the y pipe unfortunately.. i was going to fab up my own oval pipe x, but the universal kits are in the 600 dollar range so EFF that ^10. i absolutely hate the way y pipes sound, but there are a few ppl that have gotten them right.. i hope to be one of them.
by the end of the summer i'll likely have a yank in there anyway so all my practical thinking will be tossed out the window..

I may have an M6 now but my last car had a TH400 behind a 3800 stall 10" converter behind a 383, the converter did make a night and day difference. However, if you put one in now and then do headers and end up doing a cam, heads, gears, etc, I highly doubt you will still have have the correct stall speed for your setup and it might drive like **** and possibly destroy your converter over time.

A torque converter may show better gains at the track, but for a daily driver, headers are just a smarter mod IMO. There are sacrifices with a torque converter. Headers are all positive.
Have you planned the car's build or are you buying parts as you see them? Ask yourself, do I want a track terror that is a pain on the street, or a DD that rips easy mid 12's. Draw out your plan and go with it. You'll be happy no matter what you choose. Good luck!
