quick question, nowhere else to go

quick question, nowhere else to go sorry non ls1 question this time but I need some guidance to whomever has had issues or heard of any with a 99 s10 4.3
long story short, the vehicle only seems to run right when I unplug the mass air sensor (its brand new) the old one wouldnt allow the vehicle to stay running at all (sputters & dies). any ideas? If I plug in the air sensor the volt gauge goes ape **** and the veh bogs down
I've tried disconnecting the battery to reset the system but same thing happens. has a check engine light but have nothad it scanned yet, probably the o2sensors.
veh has new plugs,wires, filters ad a new fuel pump and pressure regulator.
