Default SLP Lid Problem!

Ok, so i recieved my SLP Lid & MTI Bellow this passed week. Installed em this passed Saturday. The lid doesnt seal properly at the back end though. I notice that when i push down on it to give it a good seal, it pushes the bellow in some to give it a bend like look. Then i let off the lid and it goes back to normal.

I was wondering, what did you guy's do to get a proper seal??? Should i take the bellow off and cut some of it off, so it basically doesnt push the MAF & Lid out more??

Get rid of the bellow put the stock accordian back on.....doesn't do anything anyways. People with bellows always have issues with their lids not sealing or in some cases even cracking their lids. If you like it for the look then more power to you. If you like it because you think it does something performance wise, it doesn't do anything at all.

Ok, yea i got the Bellow expecting atleast a small increase in HP with the FTRA, SLP Lid & K&N Filter on. My clamps hold it down, it just doesnt close well in the back.

Well in that case, if it's not sealing good in the back, what I did when I had my K&N filter in was got some thin weatherstripping and put it around the inside lip of the lid. It sealed fine after that. I knew it sealed fine by taking a bright light and shining it by the back of lid then looked through the front of lid while it is open just enough to see the back and couldn't see any light coming through.

Im gonna remove the Bellow & put the stock back on. See if that helps any, if not. Ill do what you did, and get some Weatherstripping.

I may change back to the regular Fram Air Filter's.

hey there, i had the same problem and i just trimmed some off the rubber boot so the maf could sit back further and the lid sealed up just fine then, also make sure you are installing it right, with the front lip of the box being on the INSIDE of the bottom lip....this is what keeps the clips in place and doesnt let them pop off....sounds funny i know since the rest of the box overlaps the bottom, but its true and works.....

remove the tray your filter sits in, just sit the filter in the bottom air box (without the tray), it should fit just fine.
I have a SLP bellows,,,no issues

i know with the old style bellows you sometimes needed to trim a little off so it wouldn't be constantly trying to push the air lid forward (hence the clamps popping up issues).

I had to grind a little off the top of my bellow to match the angle of the lid. My clamps never pop off now like they used to all the time

Hmm, ill give that a try with what you suggested Bad Boy WS6. I havent done nothing yet, today got away from me and im currently at work however just got done. So ill be doing this tomorrow, since today got away from me. I may just remove the tray right now & see if i get a proper seal though.

Yeaa, that was my 1st reaction when the lid wasnt closing properly. That i was probably gonna need to cut off some of the new MTI Bellow so it wouldnt push the MAF up so much. I dont have the problem with my clamps coming off, but they are scratching the hell out of the new lid where there clamping down.

My left clamp always comes up! Pissed me off. My slp lid doesn't seal all the way in the back either. It will be alright.

^^^ I had to trim my MTI bellow. Just make sure you don't take off too much at the first attempt. Also, make sure you are seating the lid into the lip in the front. It's a little lip, but it does make a difference when the clamps are coming off.

my lid will pop the clips everytime if my clamps are super tight. i found them loose, then tightened them up then the clips starting popping. i loosened them back up (the one on the throttle body) and the clips stay clamped.

I pretty much got it fixed. Removed the MTI bellow, put the stock one back on and it pretty much fixed it. I mean the back still look's as if it's not sealing, but i can see the what is it... adhesive strip that came with the lid & K&N filter is right up ontop of the Filter itself. It look's pretty sealed from the back, and i got the lid inside the lip in the front.

When i compared the MTI to the stock. You could clearly notice a difference in the size. Cleaned MAF while i was it too.
