my 98 ss with 138,000mi smoked after LT ory install but only on decel with engine braking. i have xs headers and they have been on and off my car 3 times for fitmet issues that i just fixed. with stock cats in between swapping my exhaust my car never smoked or used any oil between oil changes no matter how much i abused it with stock exhaust. but each of the 3 times with headers it did use oil and somke. it has something to do with the pcv and valve covers maybe on the 98's only. i have a catch can but it doesn't work that well. i think it has some to do with back psi and poorly designed valve covers on my 98. but for the performace it's worth it. i still don't use oil now if i don't engine brake. just my 2 cents

No oil burning issues here. I have SLP LT's. They've been on the car for 4 years now without any oil consumption that is detectable. BTW I also have an 11.0:1 compression with my heads. No problems.

The LS1 is sometimes susceptible to ring flutter during the low load, mid-high RPM range. I guess it is possible that the reduced back pressure would possibly make this situation worse, but I would think the difference would be insignificant. Besides, do you keep the car in first gear going down the highway?

My car burned a little bit of oil before I installed the kooks LT'S.The car burns the same amount after the install and tune.I have heard people say they burn more oil.I think that
statment is really stupid. You can't believe everything you here.
