Default Which Lid?

A lid is a lid is a lid is NOT true.

I first bought an SLP lid and it fit so shittily that I sold it. Now I would like to try again. I have heard MTI can make a good product and was planning on going with them. Anyone else have a better idea other than the cost prohibitive Blackwing to give me good fit/finish and so I don't have unfiltered air leaking in like crazy through 3/8" gaps like the SLP had?

Perhaps it was a poor install of the SLP lid? I've got an SLP and it fits perfect. The top rubs the inside of my hood but the actual fit of the lid is great.

I did not err in my installation. SLP's crap tabs just don't seal. Casting a tab at 45* angle and then trying to get it to hold something down and create a seal is just retarded. The old SLP lids were great. Maybe you have an old one? (pre '06/7)

My old SLP fit great. Took it off and sold it and now have MTI clear which fits a lot tighter.

Ahh, probably the case then. I definately have an older style lid.

I hear good things about the MTI lids. Not sure I'd go with the clear as I hear they are prone to cracking.

this is why i'm not gonna get another lid... I'm gonna go with the volant intake... that way there are NO MORE sealing issues, fitting, cracking, unfiltered air, etc...

it may be a little more costly, but it looks great, and there's no more worrying...

All you guys with MTI whisper lids, does it seal well in the back? If I reached my hand in under the filter and pressed up, the back of the filter would flop about 3/8" between the bottom of the lid. HORRID seal on my SLP.
