Ideally you want the largest gap you can run. The original spec was .060 but people complained about idle issues. Narrowing the gap to .040 helped address those complaints. Did it do anything for power? Probably not but it shut up the complainers. I run .060 on my NGKs and don't have any issues with idle.

So my TR55IX's were gapped at .50 when i took them out. I put the TR6IX's in right out of the box with the .38 gap. and I do feel like the car runs alot smoother. I havent really had a chance to test the preformance, however from the drive home from the shop i did get on it a few times and it did feel to be a little more responsive.
