Default Heavy underdrive pulley???

I just bought a summit underdrive pulley. It looks like a good quality but it is heavier than the stocker. i dont have a way to measure it besides a bathroom scale that says it weighs 12 lbs. and the stock 11lbs. I dont know if these weights are correct but it seems like the summit is a lot heavier. I thought the whole point of an underdrive pulley is so it spins faster but i cant imagine even if it is smaller in size that the weight wont ruin the benefit?
please help with advice and maybe the weight of another aftermarket companies pulley.

The power increase isn't from the inertial benefits...it is from spinning your accessories slower. If you are that concerned about it, send it back.

Faster n you98 since the pulley is something like 25% smaller in diameter than your stocker it spins all of the accesories (alternator, AC, water pump, power steering) on that belt 25% slower which results in freeing up a few HP. The only downside is your components will be spinning a little slower so your AC might not work as well at a low RPM, alternator might put out just a little less amperage, and the water pump won't be pumping as much water through your radiator. I haven't heard of anyone complaining too much about these small effects though so I wouldn't worry about it!

I know what the point of it being 25% underdriven is, i was just wondering if the weight would counter it at all.

The weight is pretty close in to the axis of rotation, so I wouldn't worry about it a whole lot.

Please. It isn't that hard to figure out. Even a search on here would reveal that it is a brand of underdrive pulley.

So every underdrive crank pulley I have ever owned you use an overdrive alternator pulley to keep the volts up. Is it safe to say everything stays relatively where it should just changing the crank pulley? And exactly what kind of gain do you see with the ASP unit in HP/Torque?

Had an ASP underdrive on my 98 SS and it was lighter than the stock pulley.
I believe alot of it has to due with the construction of the parts.
the asp is aluminum and the stock is cast Iron i believe.
so it may come down to what the manufacturer used to make their product.
BTW I did not have an overdrive pulley for any of the acessories.
And the biggest thing that I noticed was wheel spin (no traction with new drag radials at the track with a good burnout)
I have also heard of some pulleys causing false knock, but I do not know if that is true or not?

FWIW, on an old LT1 car of mine I had a set of March underdrive pullies. That particular setup required that the stock balancer be mounted on the outside of the UDP, because the UDP didnt do any balancing. It came with a much longer bolt and it was literally sandwiched inbetween the balancer and the crank. I didnt think anything of it afterwards because with an electric waterpump, shorties, UDP, and 4.10s that bitch still got 30mpg on the interstate doin 75mph with the AIR on!
