Exhaust Backfiring???
Exhaust Backfiring??? Ok, so ive noticed that when i put my car on cruise control and say i speed up to about 10mph and let off and let it coast back down to cruise control. I hear the exhaust backfiring a bit....Is this normal when on cruise control??? I never really noticed if it ever did this before, but ive noticed it lately that it does that.
I do gotta broken cat, and will be changin out the entire system here pretty soon with the LoudMouth II muffler & Magnaflow Cats.
Would the broken cat cause this??? Or would it be the O2 sensors??? or is it just the Flowmaster Muffler itself???
I also noticed saturday night as i stopped and checked my car out. I had just washed it and removed alot of brake dust from my rims. So i wanted to see if the rims were still clean, and i decided to rev the car up a bit and it kinda backfired as i reved it loudly. i mean i atleast got it upto 5000rpms or so. I dont rev it crazy and hit the 6 to 7000rpm marks. i actually liked how it sounded, never heard it sound like that before and i usually rev it at about the same rpms. it surprised me alot lol

ur saying it only does it whn ur on cruise control? it is normal to hear a backfire whn left off the gas or start coasting due to the backpressure, mine did it alot whn i had a cutout...are u throwing any codes?

Yeaa, seems to only do that when i let it coast back down on cruise control. I never noticed if it did that, so kind of threw me off....Nope, not throwing any codes. Last code it threw, was for the broken catalytic converter and code went away by itself but you hear the cat rattling at times when you give it the gas a bit. so i went ahead and ordered new Magnaflow spun cats, which should arrive tomorrow accordin to my fedex tracking #.
+1 with the magnaflow cats...they are great, as far as the backfireing thts just backpressure whn u let off the gas, update it whn u get the cats on, i wnna know if they made a difference or not
Well ill actually be getting a whole new system put on with the new cats. ill be running the LoudMouth II muffler, but ill see if it does the same with the new system. im sure that's just what it is, the backpressure being let off.
