newbie here, what should i do?

newbie here, what should i do? i just bought an 01 Z28 a few days ago, and its completely stock except for a flowmaster catback that the previous owner installed. ive read plenty of bad things about flowmaster (not loud, no hp gain, SOME hp loss, etc...). can i just get a cutout placed before the muffler to get some more hp, or should i replace the whole catback? im planning on getting some hooker headers soon, and id like to take care of the exhaust all at once, thanks for the help!
Re: newbie here, what should i do? I've got a flowmaster on mine I like the sound but I am planning on getting a cut out and keeping the flowmaster for now later I'll just get a loudmouth..welcome to the board 
Re: newbie here, what should i do? Welcome to the LS1 world. Get a cut out and put it in front of the muffler. Some other performance mods are an air lid, a cold air induction kit like the Super Sucker Ram Air(SSRA). Some drag radials help to get your car to hook up.

Re: newbie here, what should i do? If you keep the flowmaster just get a cutout,Itll sound mean and you will see a horsepower gain,if you want to change the whole catback I suggest slp loudmouth,and hooker headers a good choice.Welcome to the wonderful world of f-bodies!
