Default exhaust question

my camaro has a custom y pipe with the stock manifold and catalytic converters.

if i buy headers, i need to get some cats and then i can just weld it onto my existing ypipe right. its got bullet mufflers by the way.

unless you get shortys, your custom y is set up for your stock manifolds and would not connect correctly...long tubes would push the connection between the two farther back along the car...

well i can cut and alter the existing y pipe, thats not a problem for me. im just wondering on the pollution and such with installing some cats.
