Question 98 cars???

Ok I have a friend with a 98 SS. nothing special. all stock just has a lid. I was looking under his hood and noticed his valve covers look nothing like mine. (no center bolts) is this normal?

The 98 the coils bolt directly to the valve cover and they are bolted onto the head around the seal I think they call it perminate mount but not sure (edge of cover and in 99 or 00 they went to centerbolt and used a coil bracket tho seperate the coils from the valve covers. When I bought my 2002 LS6 I had to buy the coil brackets for my 1998 SS Camaro.

Yup, the early year LS1's 97-98 (possibly 99?) had perimeter valve cover bolts.
