Default ses light comes on

I have 99z28 a4 I noticed sometimes when I really get on it the ses light will come on for like a while and then after a while it might go off sometimes it stays on for a day and then goes off. Once I had my friend hook up his tuner and it gave like a rear o2 code or something he was thinking one of the cats was going bad or something. I don’t know this morning on the way to work I got on it I was kind of late and it came on but the thing is it just does that ever so often and then comes off its not a consistent thing any one else ever have this problem. Also how often should you get your trans serviced like get it drained out and filled up again I think I did one like last year sometime.

Get the car scanned for any codes for free somewhere like Autozone, then post it.
