98 water pump gasket

98 water pump gasket I know the gasket is paper. Does anyone know if the newer style steel ones can be used? I went to NAPA and the guy said that obviously they are two different part numbers, however, there is only 1 part number for 98-02 LS1 water pumps, which leads me to believe that the gasket would have to work on either. What's the deal? Trying to tie up some loose ends before I start this H/C/FAST90/LT swap.
