Default catback comparison

I need some feedback on some various catbacks. I have a flowmaster with longtubes/ory and it sounds like ***. It's quiet and raspy. I know it will be difficult to get rid of the rasp completly without going to true duals but there has got to be a better sounding catback out there for my setup. I want something deeper and louder, Not like loudmouth loud, but something louder than this junk flowmaster. The header perfomance is great but now the car sounds like crap. I should'nt have to give up the mean sound to gain performance. Now bring on those catbacks and a description of how they sound with headers and ory, Stock internals please. Thanks for the info......

Hooker sounds like its pulling enough votes these days, especially with LTs. I got mine with gutted cats and a custom Y -pipe into the Hooker. It sounds deep while cruising all the way till you hit 2k then watch out cuz it starts to really open up. People turn their head at WOT for sure. As far as flow and power I would say it helps, but without removing the cats or gutting them and replacing the flatenned Y-pipe you still have alot of restriction. Consider those factors and the Hooker will really shine or outshine those other more expensive setups.

Hooker or Magnaflow are the only way to go.

You could probably replace the flowmaster muffler with a magnaflow or ultraflo muffler. That would be cheapest and sound decent.

I have the same problem as you with the rasp. Although, Im begining to like it now. Im going true duels next year though. You could simply get a loudmouth and replace the resinator before the axle with a small bullet muffler (dyno max $40 shipped)... dynomouth. This would quiet the rasp and give you a little quieter loudmouth

Hooker sounds sweet to me. LTs, ORY and Hooker is a great sounding combo. Very good at keeping the rasp down and the price is great. Best I've heard yet, next to duals.

Glad to see this post - I have Jethot LTs and Y-pipe, no cats and the stock WS6 catback. I can't stand the rasp.

I was thinking Magnaflow - will it have rasp?? I like the price and stainless steel! Hooker was my second thought.

Any input??

You can go borla. Adjustable and stainless. With headers and a healthy cam the lope to me sounds a lil high pitched, but I like it. I would say that its semi loud with headers and ORY, but you can literally hear it from over a mile away.

I run SLP Factory Dual-Dual, w/LG Motorsports 2&3/4" Y, Gutted cats, and Flo-Tech 3" cutout for the track. No cowboy low end obnoxious noise w/cutout closed on the street... After 4000 rpm's though--it gets nice. '02 A4 SS. WJ.

Another vote for the Hooker. I like the Hooker on the LS1 MUCH better than the Flowmaster on my IROC.

OK I have not heard much feedback on MAGNAFLOW. I was looking at either the magnaflow or the hookers for a 2001 WS6. Anyone with comments. I cannot find clips of the magnaflow. I want it to sound tough at idle and go crazy when I step on it. Did not like the loudmouth so its between these 2.

Magnaflow is very raspy compared to the slp dual/dual.
