Convertibles and Headers
I'm curious to find out if anyone else has had problems with any longtubes and their convertibles and an A4. I know with the SLP ones require you to get a new cross brace. Do the others, Jet-Hot, Kooks, Hooker, MAC fit without modification?

Re: Convertibles and Headers
I was looking into Either TTS or FLP's, Slp's are out of the question for me they hang too low, as soon as Jet Hot has there cated Y out I may look into them.

Re: Convertibles and Headers
I have PPC's and neither the stock or SLP cross brace will fit in with the 3-3 1/2" Y-pipe. I just removed mine all together.

Re: Convertibles and Headers
Just remove the center cross brace and replace with an aftermarket brace and driveshaft loop. You are then legal to go racing in the 'vert.

You can cut the cross brace or just get rid of it. I first cut it when I had MACs and got rid of it when I realize you can bend it by hand.
You should have SFCs and if you want more lateral bracing, a good DSL will do more than the flimsy X-Brace.
SoundEngineer: I hope that was just a joke (I get a wierd looking graemlin so it is hard to tell what tone you are sending). Otherwise, unless you have a 1LE and have removed the A/C, cd changer, front swaybar, etc. you can come down off the mountain.

yeah...t was a little bit of a joke...but convertibles do take a lot more braceing because of the no roof thing.....a lot of performance parts are a few extra buck as I seem to recall....and that brace you are talking about...definately replace......
BTW ragtop...nice #'s....by the time I fininsh with my car(may be a year or two total...Cash flow is ok....but I'm always on the road...no time to work on it) I will be somewhere around there too....hoping a litttle bit faster...but I probably wont break the 10.XX barrier.

Its true, compared to a hardtop, my car feels like a rattletrap even with a STB, SFC, and cage. We definitely give up some weight (150 - 200 lbs) but once you have your rollbars showing, you get some respect.
I'm debating on going faster. Head porting & tuning keeps getting better and I think another .2 NA might be there if I want to invest in it.
