Default Alternator question

My car is charging low. I replace the previous (mal functioning) one already but now the dial show a low charging at the meter (no red light advice yet). Can I use a hiher amp one? Do somebody had experiences with the one that an Ebay dealer sell that comes in 130 and 160 Amp? What about fitting? What those extra amps will do? Thanks for your advices.

i got a 235 amp one, i believe the place was recommended to me from somebody in the stereo and electronics forum. Its basically a juiced up truck alt. havent had problems with it yet and its been on over a year. Also i have an underdrive pulley and no overdrive on the alt.

Its worth upgrading, I got a 200a and love it, at idle it puts out 110a, which is more then the stock one does at full, I got the alterstart 200a off ebay for 276 shipped.

Do it fit exactly as the factory one or the chassis is bigger?

check the red wire going to the top of your alternator too. If it or the connector is damaged, you will get lower voltage from the alt.

like i said, mine is basically a truck (ls-based) alternator. Same bolt pattern and pulley and everything as stock, its just a little bigger, but theres plenty of room.
