Default MS3 or MS4

I have a 1999 trans am. I have 3.42 gears and have a 3600 stall with a 2.4 str on the way, and i am thinking about putting in a ms3 or ms4 and stock 5.3 heads with roller rockers(with the stock ratios) and bigger springs. Would this work? the short runners in the 5.3 heads would produce more low end torque which would help with the daily driving situation. also what kind of gas mileage do people usually get out of these cams? My car sees mostly highway mileage, but will see more city miles in the fall when i start college. What do you all think about the setup?

might put a little juice on it also.

MS4 requires fly cutting the pistons, the MS3 does not. The HP difference between the 2 is not much, atleast thats what Texas speed told me. Im going with an MS3. Look at texas-speed.com for a heads/cam combo.

You will have to cut the pistons with the stock 5.3 heads IF you don't get them from TSP.

LOL once you put that stall and ms3 in your gas mileage is going down, way down. I would pick up a beater if your worried about mileage. There forcasting $5.00 by july 4th....

With 5.3 heads I believe so, but if he sticks with his stock heads, he will be fine.

I would honestly get something a little smaller than both of those cams for a DD ..post this in the internal engine forum and you'll get a lot more responses. Id go with something like a tr230 or MTI X1. That cam is going to make good top end/ Peak power but loose some down low, where a smaller cam is going to have better numbers across the board

I do like the numbers that people are putting down with the ms3 cam only.
