trick to getting y pipe off of stock manifold?

Default trick to getting y pipe off of stock manifold?

damn bolts wont budge on either side, where the y pipe bolts to the manifold. Any tricks to getting them off? Starting my ARH LT install, so far just got the catback disconnected, the crossmember, the AIR/EGR. Thanks.

those rusted bolts can be pretty challenging sometimes. Use lots of penetrating fluid. My favorite is PB Blaster!

Heat them up with a torch haha. Did you try soaking them with PB Blaster?

Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil, works like a charm. plus its cheap and u can find it at your local auto parts store.

If you're using a decent 6 point socket that won't slip or strip the nut, just snap the manifold studs off.

You can use a breaker bar, long 3/8" ratchet, a 1/2" ratchet, or an air gun if possible...

No sense in worrying about the studs since if the nuts won't come off, they're probably no longer any good anyway.

yeah i havent hit them with anything yet (wd40 etc) because i ran out and the store was closed. I had a 6" extension on my ratchet and pulled hard as hell but it wouldnt bust off. I busted off the ones on the driver side cat though these just wont budge. Also whats the best way to remove the O2's? An adjustable wrench?

7/8" box or combination wrench.

The wrench will fit over the harness plug and once it's on the sensor squarely, if you smack it (the wrench) sharply once or twice with either your hand (ouch), or a hammer, it will usually "shock" the threads loose and allow sensor to be removed.

You can also try that with your extension on the exhaust studs, but it's usually 10x easier to just snap them with a decent sized ratchet, if you don't have air tools. Just use a hammer to try and shock the nut/stud.

yeah i only have a 3" extension for my 1/2" ratchet, so I cant get it up in there to wail on it. Tomorrow when I go pick up some penetrator Im going to get a big 1/2" extension. I was rolling too until I hit this snag.

oil them then with a back and forth motion slowly go one direction then the other , and this will free up the rusted threads patience is the key lol.

those bolts are rather cheap from any hardware store

go to harbor freight (if you have on near you) and get a breaker bar, like $10. Usually when I can't get a bolt to budge with my 1/2" ratchet I get out the breaker bar and its like a hot knife through butter or a cold knife through hot butter.....you know what I mean, EASY!!!!!!
