Default Headers Question

I have a 98 WS6 and I heard you have to unbolt your motor mounts and raise your engine to install headers on these cars. I wanted to know if thats true and if maybe there are some headers out there that don't require you having to do that. I have a pretty much stock car and also wanted to know which headers would give me the biggest increase in h.p.

Not all headers require pulling motor mounts.
I would think an automatic would offer less room for working than an M6 , and my A4 car was a piece off cake when it came to putting in my Hooker longtubes. I did not touch the motor mounts.
Good luck, Hooker gets my vote.

FLPs were very easy to install no unbolting of mounts with these headers. I helped a friend install MACs and we had to unbolt the mounts and jack up the engine to get them to fit.

My .02 go with Long Tube Headers right from the get go.

Clearance with the Hookers is real good. The SLP's may require unbolting a motor mount but I did not have to myself when installing these, My hookers went in much easier I just had to make sure I had the car high enough off of the ground which I was able to do with a hyd jack and jack stands. They were high lift jack stands though (not sure the exact inches.)

My Kooks did require me to upbolt the engine mounts. As for clearance, it may be better then stock and I have RT cats. My car is lowered about 2" and I have yet to scrape one time.

My hooker longtubes fit tight but required no removal of motor mounts or tranny mounts. Once my ORP went up it made the clearance issues non-existent. For the price and the seat of the pants feel, I think you would be making a good choice with these. I have no numbers though.

Has anyone installed QTP or SLP headers and how hard were they to install. Also how is the clearance with those. I had some Hookers on a old 86 Monte Carlo SS of mine that I put a big block in. I had plenty of ground clearance but had to beat the hell out of them in one spot to get them to clear my frame. I also had headers on a 78 Bronco and 85 Suburban and none ever fit perfect but the best were the ones on my Bronco. They cost me $100.00, got them at a local swap meet, and they had no name on the box or headers, go figure. I've seen some headers for my TA on ebay before but all of them were beat on. I don't want to do any beating on anything I'd get for this car if it is possible. My car is a A4 BTW.

I have SLP LTs...no unbolting motor mounts. We loosened the bolt on the tranny mount and pushed the engine to the side a little(M6)...very easy, but need 2 people for smoothest install. Ground clearance is kinda crappy on my car with these headers, I have the Bilstein package, so car is probably lowered about an inch.
