Question coolant crossover block offs?

I originally had an LS1 intake and during a lot of mods I also switched to an LS6 intake. I was told to just bang the coolant crossover tube down closer to the valley cover and the LS6 intake should fit. I have also heard to cut the crossover and block off the part going to the back of the motor and install some block off on the heads where the coolant would normally run. (GM PN 12602540) This worked great for me. But then I heard that the back cylinders could run hot... What is the truth behind all this?? If this will cause the back cylinders to run hot why would the block offs be a GM part number?

If GM designed and release them that way since they used the 2001-2 LS6 intake. It has proven to work (yes, many will say it will cause hot spot and the back cylinders to run hot), I would not worry. You have the option of going either way.. I grinded down the cross ribs on mine, didn't really bang on the tube much and have had no problems.

I used the block off tubes on mine when I changed over to the LS6 intake, have not had any problems, I would advise not to grind off the ribs on the bottom of the intake, they are there for a reason, the thin plastic needs the ribs for support to keep it from cracking. GM engineers would not of removed the rear vent tube if they thought it would be a problem. Your OK!
