Default autometer tach, which wires to cut?

I installed my autometer tach this weekend and then when I went to cut the brown and orange wires, I found I have no orange on mine. The way I understand it is, the ls1 pulse signal is different than most v8s and the tach has to be put into 4 cyl mode to operate correct. That's fine but all I've read on here is to cut the brown and orange to put it into 4 cyl mode. Well mine didn't come with a brown and an orange, it came with a brown and a blue. In the instructions it says cut blue only for 4 cyl (2 pulse) and cut blue & brown for 4 cyl (1 pulse). Anyone done this before and know which way I need to do it? I'm hoping I cut both because I already cut brown, I didn't realize mine was different until I couldn't find orange lol. Either way I still have to cut blue but I hope I don't have to splice the brown back together because there is no room and everything else is already wired in
