Default Is a Custom Y Pipe Setup Worth It?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to finish my full boltons but caught a snag on the Y pipe. Like many, I've chosen to go with some coated Pacesetters. However I can't decide whether to get a custom Y with the flowmaster merge or just go with the pacesetter or texas speed Y pipe. So my question is, If I plan on stopping at full bolt ons (and not likely but possibly a cam some heads like 243's) is it worth it to spend the extra money on a custom Y pipe over something like the pacesetter Y pipe? I know the pacesetter piece has great ground clearance, and I am planning to do poly motor mounts when I do the headers to eliminate the banging. I know however that the custom one will flow better and possibly fit better, but does it offset the added price? How much on average would I be looking to spend if I go with a custom Y pipe? Note that this will be an ORY setup.

So my setup would be:
Pacesetters
-(Y Pipe)
--Cutout
---Hooker Catback

Thanks in advance for the help!

Ive got a custom Y pipe but im switchin it out for the Pacesetter Y. I have shitty ground clearance with the custom pipe. I might talk with the guy and see if he can bend it some to give me more clearance but if not. Ill get the pacesetter y. I know my system probably flows better right now, but rather have more ground clearance. Only reason ill go with Pacesetter's y. Ill just add my magnaflow cats to it.

You're not going to get better clearance than with the Pacesetter Y. If your worried about flow, weld in the Flowmaster merge in place of the Pacesetter one. I simply dremeled out some of the extra overlapping metal in my Pacesetter merge and called it a day though.

First do poly motor mounts, that will give you insurance that your Y pipe will not hit. Secondly get a custom Y pipe built, that way it will not hit the floor baord.. catch my drift. Get all mandrel bends with a flowmaster merge, can not go wrong

This is a shot of my modified QTP catd' Y-pipe. I replaced the passenger's side cat' straigh out, and cut out the driver's side cat', then, hung the replacement off of the collector (just like the passenger's side is) and obtained a 3-inch U-bend from Summit and cut and had it welded on. I have good clearance now and the Y-pipe tucks almost as good as the header collectors do.

3" off the collectors to 4" Flowmaster merge thru a 4" qtp cutout.

So knowing these following things:
-My car will be lowered
-I will be doing poly motor mounts
-I don't plan on doing much more mods after finishing full bolt ons (so I want a good flowing Y pipe, but it doesn't have to be the most badass one out there)
-I will be getting Pacesetter headers
-This will be an ORY

Is it still worth it for me to fork out the extra dough for a Custom Y pipe? Or should I just get the Pacesetter Y?

My Pacesetter y-pipe gives excellent ground clearance but bangs the floorboard. I know some poly mounts would fix that, but in the meantime I've got some high-temp heater hose in there. The merge on it is also for ****. The overlap is ridiculous and needs to be ground out. I'd say get a custom one or plan on doing some extra work to get the Pacesetter to fit/flow correctly. Your call. Another option is the TSP pipe. The ground clearance on it is comparable to the Pacesetter but it doesn't bang the floorboard. It's also a little easier to take on and off since it's a 3-piece design.
