well, im looking at getting a used ls2 intake w/stock fuel rails, and i was wondering what other components are needed to put one on a 2000 ls1.

 

Why would you do that? Why not buy an LS6 intake?

 

I've always read that LS2 intakes are a waste of money compared to the LS6.

I'd say either step up to a FAST setup, or go with the LS6 if you're on a budget.

 

It seems like the LS2's don't work as well unless it's an FI car. I just went through the swap on my car though. I used aftermarket fuel rails. If you get the PPC rails they're only like $70. You need a throttle bracket though. I opted for the holley 90mm TB since it comes with a new bracket. SLP sells a bracket but it's super expensive...like $70 if I remember right. Your fuel rails will need shimmed higher also.

 

the reason i ask is because i can get one with low miles and fuel rails for pretty cheap, and i read last night that they outflow an ls6 manifold if they are ported, due to some design flaws or something. i think i read something about having to adapt the injectors? and the MAP sensor being in a different place?

basically id rather test out an ls2 intake that i can get for $175 and get it ported than pay $300 for an ls6. im just curious. hopefully a cam will come soon after that as well

 

the porting is usually like $300 though.
