yes u can run a really short belt from the crank to the alternator if u have an electric water pump
maybe i'm missing something, but if you think about it, how do you go about installing and uninstalling a belt that short? no way to tension it. Seems like alot of trouble to unbolt the alt or remove the pulley to get a belt on and off.

Thats why that pic has a belt that goes to the tensioner, maybe you meant that as well as the crank and alternator.

no, people running an electric water pump sometimes run a belt from the crank to the alternator. bmr makes a new bracket for the alternator to do this and allows u to adjust the alternator to adjust tension. look on their website to understand what im talking about

the pic i inserted is the shortbelt mod running a pulley-driven (stock) waterpump, which is still using the factory tensioner

I've used the squirters like once in the year I've had the car. But it's not like it's alot of wieght so it stays on. I did remove the egr and air to clean up the bay. Thought about removeing the PS, for wieght and its noisy. I would want a full manual rack though. Tech usually wont let a power rack without lines fly at the track.

every lil bit adds up in weight tho lol. i have roughly 220 lbs off of the car. plus having no washer reservior, no plastic shroud, no condenser and no bumper reinforcements, the radiator looks pretty cool lol. wow, your tech at your track sounds strict! tech in oklahoma wouldnt even notice things like that

Could go electric PS. Says it weighs 16 lbs. I thnk KRC makes a PS pump that weighs 4 lbs. so I think that route would be lighter.

ha ive always been a frim beliver of gutting everything off the nose and running as lil belt as possible .

i can deal with no ac or smog stuff .. but how does the car react to the ps delete ? i have a lsxrx7 and im running single belt and ewp , but the car dosetn weight **** and i got a 88 notch same thing waterpump and alt . but thats also not too heavy .

how hard would it be to steer with out pws on a 98 transam .. this is by far the heaviest car ive ever had . and its also an auto .

info would be great ! thx

One great thing about removing the AC is being that much easier to grab the #7 sparkplug. With longtubes makes it a snap and no issue any longer

So do you gain anything with this? I have a 25% underdrive too. So I can ****** the A/C belt and see if that does anything. Thoughts?
