thats what I figured now the big question is the 6.0 mass air flow realy a 85mm? dealerships dont know I had called a few earlier today so I still gotta figure it out. also for those of you that are wondering I have an 85mm tb andintake manifold so I am trying to keep flow as even as possible and open it up a little even if its hardly any.

All 6.0L engines use a 85mm maf stock. If all you are doing is replacing one on a stock engine you are fine, if you changed any thing to make it breathe better on the intake side you will beed to retune the MAF.

so with a 85mm lid I will need a retune if using the 85mm mass air flow on a 2000 ls1? or if I reuse the stock lid for the time being I can use the 85mm mass air flow without retuning it correct?

You do not have to tune for an 85mm airbox. If you are going up to an 85mm MAF you will need a tune as they are calibrated different.

if u dont have fast 90 or 92, and 85 mm maf is pointless, ur still not getting more air in there, cause ur stock tb is bottle necking the air, same air is going in as before!!!!!!!!

thank you for your input but logic points elsewhere and while gains may be minimal there should still be some gain. I have upgraded to an 85 mm tb and a wiend intake that I have ported and port matched to the tb and now the maf to complete the intake. I would like to keep all my intake components around the same size wich is why I am upgrading along with the fack that I can get a 6.0 maf for under $50. everyone thanks for your help greatly apreciated.

most all the trucks have 85mm maf's on them not just the 6.0L. if the car is mostly stock you could get away without a tune but wouldnt see any benifit from it. i would highly recomend a tune to calibrate for the improved induction with or without the maf change to optimize your combo .....

He cannot get away without a tune. As has already been correctly stated in this thread, when he swaps the stock 2001 ls1 MAF for the 85mm MAF he MUST retune. The MAF frequency tables are completely different.

your right, dont do it. car will self destruct............. if he hasnt had it tuned for the mods he has then the stock maf cal is also completely differant than what the car needs. so......... your saying dont ever do any mod of any kind without an instant tuner on hand. good thing i tune huh
