Default Bought Headers

So I just bought LPP headers and I know that I need to get a few more things to go along with them. I believe that they are sparks plugs, wires, and o2 extensions. I do not believe i need the poly mounts because of the flanges that were added. My question is are the o2 extensions really necessary to buy. I realize that the front ones are needed for sure but I do not know if you have to mess with them during the headers install. If I do not really care about having an SES light do i need to buy any o2 sensors at all

You can leave the rear o2's out and tune them out so the ses isn't on. You'll have to get some plugs for the bungs in the Y pipe. Get some new GM exhaust gaskets too.

I always was told that i didnt need any new gaskets. Also, you dont think the setup would come with plugs if it is a race version

If the headers are coming with paper gaskets don't use them... when you see the GM ones you'll know why. You also wont get new plugs or wires with headers. The "race" headers usually means that they dont have emmissions.

Yup just put the LPPs on my car. Installation was awesome and clearance is great. You need Wires(some sponsors are running the special with the NGK spark plugs and MSD 8.5 wires for 64 bucks)

I went with 2 24 inch extensions and zip tied the slack.

Since you will also be removing the Air injection system you will need a plug for the side of the air box.

I just stuck the old 02s in the y pipe for now just because I dont have plugs yets

So in short
Plug for lid
Plugs or 02 for the y pipe
Spark plugs
Wires
O2 extensions
and some thing to wipe that grin off your face the first time you start it

you MUST buy one set of 02 extentions, for the front 02 sensors. unless you plan on soldering and making your own.

The extentions are built very well and are weatherproof. You do not need the REAR 02 sensors, that is where you are confused.

I just did the install of some LPP's a couple of weeks ago everything went pretty good do a search on removing the Air/EGR there is a good write up on here. You need the front 02's as stated before but you can get rid of the back two with sims or just tune them out. I got mine from speed inc they were cheaper and free shipping. One other thing you will need is a a clamp from the Ypipe to the catback i picked one up from summit. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Also what Cat back are you running right now? I had to take my cat back to the exhaust shop to get it opened up make sure it fits before you start because its a bummer getting almost done with it and having to run around with that problem

So I just got the headers and everything in and one thing i noticed is that the box and the gaskets had ssautochrome on them. It was even etched on the headers themselves. Did other people that recently ordered the LPP headers have the same stuff?

I have LPP's new headers and y as well. The came just as yours with the ssautochrome name on them. LaMontePerformance had their header production outsourced to ssautochrome who originally produced the "first" set. No need to be worried, you got the right stuff. Might I add that I am very pleased to have bought these. I believe that for the money, LPP's headers are the BEST for the money. I would recommend them to anyone that wants stainless headers and a quality product for a good price.

Alright that's a relief. I put them in and the headers went in very nicely and it sounds AMAZING. I am just having problems with the y-pipe and exhaust leaks. Did most people have to get all the joints welded including from the headers to Y. Also it is running a bit odd (might be because of the leak) but it seems like it might need to be tuned but I don't have 450 bucks for a dyno tune

My car is still running like **** after putting these on, need a tune really bad I only got 240 miles from a full tank of gas. Hopefully next weekend I will be getting a tune done on mine I will keep you posted on how it worked out.

I am going to get the dyno tune I'm not sure if you can tune out the egr and O2's with a handheld. I had a hypertech programmer for my 2000 z28 and it didn't have anything like that for tuning.
