Default Do I have enough exhaust?

My new head and cam combination is G5X() cam, and AS stage 2.5 (large valve stg 2s) 5.3l heads, milled to ~11.5 to 1 compression. My exhaust currently consists of Hooker LTs, Hooker ORP, and Hooker catback. I will be installing a 3" cutout in the intermediate pipe. My question is this, do I have enough exhaust, or would I greatly benefit with true duals? I have the BMR Extreme torque arm (with the crossmember that makes true duals almost impossible), and true duals would be a major hassle at this point, not worth a 3-5hp gain, IMO. Or would I gain signifigantly in going to a 3" x-pipe dual setup? TIA, Shawn

What size is your Y-pipe? If it's a 3" Y into a 4" Y-collector with 3.5-4" all the way to the cuttout (I'd go with a 3.5" cuttout if this is the case) then you're good to go. This setup would make as good or better power than dual 3s, IMO.

Thats kinda what I'm worried about. My y pipe is 3", but necks down to smaller that 3" at the collector (2.5" clamp is too small, 3" is too big. Then, the hooker cat back I pipe is 3", so.....

Maybe you can just get a better y pipe or have one custom made?

There was write up in Hot Rod on installing a small fitting in your exhaust and attaching a pressure guage to determine whether or not you had enough exhaust. I'll see if I can find it.

I picked up MPH and ET at the track by going from MACS to LTs and then from a 3 inch I pipe to dual 3s.

The duals will usually make more power than a y pipe setup if you have a crossover and will sound better too. Without a crossover, a y pipe is probably better.
