Default question about the Hot Cam

I am debating wheather a Hot Cam is a good investment. Any info and feedback would be helpfull.

1- First off, is it worth it?

2- What needs to be done on an automatic to make it work?

3- Are the hp gains 30 at the wheels or the flywheel?

4- What would it cost at a normal shop to have it done, as I am scared to open up the internals myself.

I like mine. Its not an all out cam, but it fit my needs. Good bump in power, sounds good, and easier to maintain than other cams due to its low lift.

the hot cam needs tuning? i was under the impression that its pretty mild and would idle and run fine without tuning.

shops around here charge anywhere from 300-350 for a basic cam and spring install. im having a board member do my whole setup for me.

yes jrp the HotCam does not need any tuning(AT ALL)lol, thanx for the moter compliment your pics are kick a$$. Fry51, YES! the cam is definatly worth it, you'll need no extra tuning, at most you'll need a minor ported t-body. Like MoesSS stated, the gain will depend on the mods. 15 to 20 is expected on an all stock motor. If you do not want comp. tuning and driveability is an issue then the hotCam is perfect, not to mention the Comp Cams 206/212, Crane's 208/216 cam, and/or the LS6 cam. Thunder Racings Old Man Cam is outstanding as well(perfectly matched for stock heads-"KICK *** AS USUAL THUNDER RACING!"
Oh ya aside from a bigger t-body you might or will have to change the valve springs. Usually, shops charge from 300 to 400. Hope this helps. Good luck!
