Default Head upgrade for LS1

I found a pair of ls2 and ls6 heads on ebay, and i was wondering which one would be a better upgrade with a cam for my a4.. and are they a good deal? for a cam i was looking at something on the line of a 224 or a v2, or something like that..

ls6

ls2

or are there better upgrades for a better price...

well i looked at the ebay pages and both the casting #s are 243. so they are both the same. the only difference might be the valve springs.

ls6 heads also have the sodum filled exhaust valve which is lighter, going cheaper you could look into a set of 5.3 heads, you can get them pretty cheap and they will bump up your compression resulting in more power. or save up and get some tsp 2.5 5.3 which are very good heads for about 1200 bux.

I bought 243s off ebay. I installed them and they perform OK. In the end I think buying a set of stage 1 CNC ported heads would have been a lot better performance for not much more money. Here's a good example:

exactly

for the cost of head bolts and gaskets...you may as well just get some budget ported heads.

as stated the ls2 heads are the same as the ls6 heads for the most part...both should be #243s.

over stock 241s you'll see probably 15hp or so...while some ported 5.3L heads could yield 30-40hp with the boost in compression and flow.

as for your cam choices....theres a significant difference between the 224 and the Torquer V2.

what are your goals? budget?
