Default trex + milled 243's

i bought a new forged 347 with a cheatr cam installed. supposedly jason99ta built it. im wondering if i will have issues with ptv clearance switching to a trex. the heads are stage 1 ported ls6 heads decked 20. it has diamond pistons with the reliefs but im not sure if they are enough. the chambers are 64cc. it is all assembled and i really dont want to pull it apart.

all you have to do is pull and valve cover and install a checker spring on each valve and turn it over with feeler gauges between the valve tip and rocker arm..Should be quick and easy to check.

How does that compensate for his valve reliefs? Your just saying if you hear the valve hit the piston it's no good? He is talking about Piston to valve clearance not valve lash...

Thats what i am talking about is piston to valve clearance..Using a checker spring a feeler gauges is much easier and more accurate than pulling the heads and using clay.

^^^ i agree. the feeler gauge takes up the difference from un pumped lifters at idle or not running. that is the easiest way to see at operating clearance levels.

I think what redtail is trying to get at is the feeler gauge is actually representing the gap between the piston and valve as well as collapsing the lifter for a true ptv measurement. You add feelers until you feel the valve touch the piston, then remove 1 thous. increments until the valve clears. What ever the feeler gauge total is is you true ptv clearance with out having to buy a solid roller and pull the head for clay.

Back from the dead!

Wow that sounds like a great way of calculating PTVC, but how do you know how much you should use to compensate for the lifter pumping up?
