Default 98Z28 Oil psi low.....

another question regarding oil pressure on the LS1...my car is a 98Z28 M6 w/62K miles....at idle when cold its running 37-38psi....driving when cold its around 40-50psi...when hot, at idle its around 23-24psi...and driving hot it goes to around 35-36psi. and thats it...im concerned...im running 10-W40 castrol syntec partial synthetic w/oil changes every 3K miles....are these guages off(sending units???) should i run an autometer mechanical guage to get a true reading??? any suggestions?

change the pump, you don't want that to fail...if you read down a bit, a guy just screwed his car because of this.

DeVolk ....

What's wrong with doing it yourself?

We have some very good "How-To's" avail. that will guide you right along.

Many folks here have changed out there cams, heads, headers, oil pumps, etc by themselves with very good results.

the job isn't too hard, just gotta watch the o-ring on the pickup tube. The part you can get from Katech or thunder racing, they both sell the same pump, Katech ports them, and they flow very nice.
as for a shop, it's in FL so I have no clue.

just pick up a ported ls6 oil pump and new o-ring and swap it out yourself.

cam/spring swap but it also shows you how to swap the oil pump.
