Exclamation lifter replacement problem

how hard is it to change a lifter on a 99 t/a?
how excactly would i know if a lifter failed

You have to remove the cylinder heads to replace the lifters. Usually a failed lifter will make a constant loud ticking(if collapsed). If you just have a ticking noise you can try running a can of seafoam in your oil for about 20 miles then change the oil. If that doesn't help the next step would be to make sure you don't have any bent pushrods, which will also sound like a collapsed lifter.
